My book club (starting year 15!) picks all 11 books for the year at our annual Book Picking meeting every fall. We're starting with My Life in France by Julia Child, which I'll definitely pass along to you. Charming and interesting.

I LOVED "The Middle Place" by Kelly Corrigan. After my mom lived with us for 5 months during her liver transplant, this book touched a note with me. I LOVED it! There are a number of poignant passages about women and friendships (I'm always a sucker for that stuff!) and Corrigan does a beautiful job telling about the frustration of raising two toddlers while she suffers through chemotherapy for her breast cancer. I wish Corrigan lived down the street from me, so she could be in my dear circle of friends.......and after reading her book, I felt a bit that she does.

Here's a link of Corrigan reading from this book if you want to hear more:

we've become addicted to books on CD for those long car trips in the summer. the last one was Bud not Buddy which is wonderful for adults and kids alike. Another kid/parent friendly choice was Tuck Everlasting.
On the nightstand - just finished The Island recently which takes place in Greece and is a fiction book with a non fiction subject of a leper colony on the island of spinilonga. interesting.

Long sighhhh......why can I only stay awake long enough to read yet ANOTHER fun little historical mystery? I just can't seem to plug into anything meaningful right now. Maybe the school schedule w/ earlier bedtimes will help!
